Estevan chiropractic clinic is Rooted in providing care

Dr. Jacie Vandermeulen uses a different technique when caring for her patients.

ESTEVAN - Dr. Jacie Vandermuelen has returned home to open a new business, and her clients are glad she did.

Located in a strip mall just off of Kensington Avenue in northeast Estevan, Rooted Family Chiropractic opened in April and has been meeting the needs of clients ever since.

“It’s been nice and steady. Business has been really good,” said Vandermeulen.

She has started by offering chiropractic services, but not with a conventional technique. She doesn’t use the traditional manual adjustments. Vandermeulen opts for a small instrument known as an integrator to deliver torque release technique (TRT). It delivers a small impulse to the body.

TRT has been around for at least 20-25 years, she said, but it hasn’t been widely used in Saskatchewan chiropractic circles.

She said her patients are pleased that she has taken this route.

“It’s a lot more gentle, it’s a lot less invasive, and I’ve gotten a lot of great feedback for it,” said Vandermeulen.

The technique has played a big role in why she decided to open her own business. Using the TRT is what she said she wanted to do.

Vandermeulen went to chiropractor school in Georgia, and then she worked in Ohio for a year before returning home. She grew up in the Estevan area, and once her visa expired in the U.S., she decided it was time to come home.

It wasn’t until she moved out to Halifax to work that she found an interest in the profession. She worked as an assistant for a chiropractor out there.

“Within about a month, I knew that was what I was going to do. I worked for them for a couple of years and then went down to school.”

It’s been a lot of work opening her own clinic. The business side of it is new to her, so it’s a learning curve, but she has loved the experience.

“I’m enjoying just being back in this community. I’m enjoying helping the community, and I’m doing what I love.”

Vandermeulen selected the named Rooted Family Chiropractic because in her line of work, she said the goal is to get to the root cause of a problem and make sure the roots and foundations are strong for a healthy lifestyle.
