The Saskatchewan Court of Appeal has ruled against the provincial government in its fight with the federal government over the carbon tax.

The appeals court ruled 3-2 in favour of the federal government, with the majority claiming that the carbon tax is not unconstitutional.

A 155-page decision was handed down Friday afternoon.

The court reserved its decision Feb. 14, after hearing two days of arguments. Sixteen groups intervened in the case.

The carbon tax came into effect in Saskatchewan and other provinces without a carbon tax, including Manitoba, Ontario and New Brunswick, on April 1.

Premier Scott Moe said the province would appeal.Ìý
