ESTEVAN - One of Estevan’s busiest roads is fully open once again.

The City of Estevan announced on Wednesday that the 700, 800 and 900 blocks of Fourth Street were fully open to the public. The stretch had been closed since July 6 due to the resurfacing of a stretch affected by a water main replacement last year.

The three blocks were supposed to be closed until at least July 15, but the work was completed ahead of schedule.

Meanwhile, effective immediately, Hillcrest Bay and its sidewalk are closed to all traffic and pedestrians due to water break repairs. As well, King Street through the Pleasantdale valley has a reduced speed limit to 30 kilometres per hour due to water crossing the street.

The city asks everyone to slow down and use caution when travelling through the water. The sidewalk is also closed due to the water flowing over the sidewalk.

The city says it will issue an update Thursday morning.
