CARLYLE - Carlyle town council reviewed and approved both their land purchase policy and the utility rates bylaw at the Oct. 20 meeting before heading into the weightier topics of the agenda.
After much discussion and feedback from the community, Carlyle town council passed a motion to protect the health and safety of residents, customers and employees, beginning Nov. 1. Anyone 18 years or older entering recreation and culture facilities in the town of Carlyle must have received at least one approved COVID-19 vaccination, and a second vaccination effective Nov. 30, or provide proof of a negative test within 72 hours of entry into the facility.
Council approved this action as an added safety measure to complement the provincial public health order, reduce confusion for customers and address the increasing spread of COVID-19 in the community.
The town thanks all residents for their co-operation throughout the pandemic as they work together to keep the community healthy and safe.
Council received their first report from the parks, recreation and culture director Shane Marsh; he has hired one full-time recreation facility operator and continues to seek two more operators to complete the staff requirements for this department.
The Carlyle Sports Arena’s ice schedule is starting to fill up as the hockey teams and skating club start their regular seasons Oct. 25 and Nov. 1, respectively. As the temperatures drop there have been discussions of installing an outdoor ice surface to the north of the Sports Arena again this season.
Carlyle town council’s next regular scheduled meeting is set for Nov. 3.
