CARLYLE — This past Saturday, the Bargain Shop held its annual toy drive in front of their Carlyle Main Street location.
There was a great turnout and the balmy weather enabled Santa Claus to take pictures with the children outside. Mrs. Claus barbecued hamburgers and hotdogs, with the meat and pop donated by the Â鶹ÊÓƵern Plains Co-op’s location. Carlyle Fire and Rescue added a fire truck to spotlight the event.
The Observer interviewed interim store manager Val Purser.
“This was the Bargain Shop’s 10th annual fundraiser. In addition to our head office contributing 10 per cent of Saturday’s gross sales, businesses and individuals also donated cash and toys.
“All of the cash funds will be used to purchase additional toys for needy individuals in the area. As well, CDs and other items will be distributed to residents of the Moose Mountain Lodge.”
The Bargain Shop has been open on Main Street for many years and has seven full and part-time employees.
