Assiniboia council learns of training for evacuation drills

Ongoing training will be done for evacuation drills at East and West Side courts and at the hospital in the future.

ASSINIBOIA - Assiniboia Town Council gathered for a meeting on September 26, 2023. Present at the table were Mayor Sharon Schauenberg, Councillors Robert Ellert, Kent Fettes, Patrick Grondin, Graham Harvey, Peter Kordus, Renee Clermont, CAO Clint Mauthe and Kerri Martin.

Public acknowledgements were provided to: Fire Chief Terry Lacelle, Susan Leduc, and Assiniboia Times.

Agenda was accepted and adopted as presented.  Moved by Fettes/Grondin.

Minutes of the regular council meeting of September 12 were accepted and approved as read.  Moved by Clermont/Kordus. Minutes of the Assiniboia Early Childhood Coalition of Sept. 18 was accepted an approved as read. Moved by Fettes/ Grondin.

Chief Terry Lacelle gave the fire department report. A pancake breakfast was held Oct. 14 in conjunction with Fire Safety week. A school presentation was held Oct 13. Members of the Fire Dept. attended a fall school in Humboldt from October 13 to 15. Fire fighter Malone won a gold medal in the Fire Fighter Games.

Correspondence:

Correspondence was received by: Waterworks Compliance inspection; Professional Building Inspections Ltd. Newsletter; Lakeview Insurance Broker invitation for grand opening. All correspondence approved and moved by Ellert/Fettes.

Report from CAO Clint Mauthe was provided. Construction of Main St. started on Oct 10 and will continue until all lines are done. The campground water lines will be blown after the last workers have left. There are 11 new programs this year through Recreation and Wellness.

There was vandalism reported at the swimming pool before it closed. 

New hire in the Town Office is Sarah Layden.

A list of paid accounts was accepted as presented. The statement of financials was accepted as presented. All reports accepted and moved by Fettes/Harvey.

Request for Decision

Council approved of Bexhill Community well land agreement regarding land surrounding the TOA Community well.  Moved by Ellert/ Kordus.

The Â鶹ÊÓƵland Co-op Centre Board – appointed members as follows: Steph VanDeSype, Town of Assiniboia; Clint Mauthe, Town of Assiniboia; Curtis Nelson, Junior B Rebels; Jaret Ruzicka, Assiniboia Minor Hockey Assoc.; Ryder Pickens, Recreational Hockey; Trevor Thompson, Recreational Hockey; Derek Lessmeister, Senior Hockey; and Pamela Engstrom, Skating Club. Moved by Fettes/Kordus.

Council presentations were provided by all councilors as to meetings and functions attended since last meeting. Town Council gathered on October 10.
