Winners of the 2010 YouthBiz E-Show were announced, recently.
A total of $2,150 in prize money was awarded to students in southeast Saskatchewan for their efforts in developing unique business ideas and creating virtual tradeshow booths.
This year, 215 students registered to compete in this innovative business competition, coordinated by Community Futures Sunrise.
In the Grade 10 to 12 category, First Place and $500 in prize money went to Alisha Andersen of Redvers for her business "New Leaf Landscaping." Second Place and $300 was awarded to Adam Hoffart and Carson Skjerdal of Weyburn for their venture "C & A Recording." Third Place and $150 went to Sasha Mitchell of Carlyle for her business "Perlet," a company that sells scented jewellery.
In the Grade 6 to 9 category, First Place and $500 in prize money was awarded to Hannah Whitman of Macoun for her idea "Cheeky Chihuahuas." Second place and $300 went to Jack Thompson and Jarrett Metheral of Yellow Grass for their business "Triple R Machining."
Third Place and $150 was awarded to Paige Kuntz of Macoun for "Paigey?s Pooches."
"The YouthBiz competition continues to grow and attract more interest from students and teachers every year," said Verna O?Neill of Community Futures Sunrise. "In 2010, student submissions almost doubled in numbers and their quality was outstanding. There were many interesting and well-planned business ideas - everything from daycares and hair salons to machining shops and restaurants - very creative and innovative ideas!?
Special Achievement Awards were also given to students whose entries displayed outstanding qualities in their submission materials.
