Tenille Arts has attained another accomplishment in her country music career.
Her song Somebody Like That reached No. 1 on the Mediabase country music charts on Sunday, overtaking Gabby Barrett’s song, The Good Ones. Somebody Like That was No. 3 the previous week.
Mediabase is one of three main singles-related mainstream country music charts.
Arts, who hails from Weyburn, won the Estevan Junior Idol (now Estevan Sings Junior) competition in 2006 and has performed in the Estevan area on a number of occasions.
Arts is the first Canadian artist to hit No. 1 since 2007, and it's the first No. 1 song on country radio that was written, produced and sung by a female artist. Allison Cruz and Alex Kline co-wrote the song. Kline was the producer.
