Jazz Café at the Allie Griffin

Award-winning jazz pianist Amanda Tosoff and her quartet are hitting the road for a four-week cross Canada tour and will be performing at a Jazz Café at Weyburn's Allie Griffin Art Gallery on Thursday, October 7.

Award-winning jazz pianist Amanda Tosoff and her quartet are hitting the road for a four-week cross Canada tour and will be performing at a Jazz Café at Weyburn's Allie Griffin Art Gallery on Thursday, October 7.

At the Weyburn concert, the group will be offering up a mix of jazz standards and blues in the style of Oscar Peterson, Diana Krall and Frank Sinatra. They'll also by playing selections of Tosoff's compositions, with influences ranging from Duke Ellington and Ray Charles to African grooves, modern pop and blues. These selections are from their latest album, "Looking North" - the first produced on Tosoff's own new record label, Oceans Beyond Records.

Since winning the Montreal Jazz Festival's Grand Prix de Jazz award in 2009, Tosoff moved from Vancouver to Toronto, started her own record label, and self-produced and wrote all the music for her current album
