Veteran touring act “Great Plains”-husband and wife team Darrell and Saskia Delaronde are returning to Carlyle for a fundraising concert at Carlyle United Church, Saturday, April 2 at 7 pm.
The singer/songwriters are no strangers to the Carlyle area, having performed here previously with Canadian folk artist Gary Fjellgaard.
“This isn't the first time they've performed in Carlyle,” says Doug Waldner, the church's board chairman. “They did a show here with Gary Fjellgaard and people really enjoyed it. That one was in the (Carlyle) Memorial Hall. And although this show is in the United Church, it's not a United Church function. It's a night of great entertainment that's open to everyone.”
The duo describes their musical style as “true Canadiana...with a taste of Celtic, a dab of bluegrass, and a touch of gospel and old tyme all wrapped around beautiful melodies.”
Saskia's musical background is folk and roots, while Darrell describes himself as a blues-rock, guitar-playing Metis from Saskatchewan.”
The pair are currently on tour across Canada promoting their latest release, “The Bluebird Trail” and will be touring Europe in 2017.
Tickets for their Carlyle performance are $15 and are available at Carlyle Pharmasave and Carlyle United Church. For more information, contact Doug Waldner at (306)-575-8103 or Lynne Brady at (306)-577-8615.
