The final event in the "Make Weyburn Riderville" campaign will be held downtown on Thursday, June 3, from 7 to 8 p.m., at the intersection of Souris Avenue and Third Street.Organized by the Weyburn Rider Nation committee, the culmination of the campaign will be to unveil and dedicate Third Street as "Riderville Road".The celebration will include highlighting the Weyburn Rider Nation anthem, written by Megan Leach and Wilf Dieter. All residents are urged to wear Rider Nation gear or Roughriders green and show off their Rider Pride as the last chance for additional footage for the "Weyburn is Riderville" video submission. The Weyburn Rider Nation earlier held Rider Pride Day on Apr. 30, and the Rider Roundup community event on May 14 to which over 2,000 people attended. These are part of the community's effort to be named "Riderville", as a part of the Saskatchewan Roughriders' 100th birthday celebrations. To continue the spirit shown on these days, the Weyburn Rider Nation is urging people to continue wearing Rider gear on Fridays and keep on showing why Weyburn is the community to beat in the "Where is Riderville" contest being held by the Roughriders. After the submission deadline of June 15, the Riderville selection committee will choose five finalists, and voting will be open to all Roughrider fans in the province as to which community should be named as "Riderville"; the winning community to earn this designation, and a $25,000 prize for minor sports along with it, will be announced at the Riders' Labour Day football game. The finalist communities will also each get $2,500 to go towards the community's minor sports programs.
