聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Over the past fifteen years one of the highlights of Carlyle鈥檚 annual Dickens Village Festival has been Cornerstone Theatre鈥檚 Christmas musical. The re-telling of 鈥淎 Christmas Carol鈥 has become a much-anticipated event, in part because of the group鈥檚 ability to present Charles Dickens鈥 warhorse in a new format almost every year. Past versions have included contemporary, Western and 1950鈥檚, as well as the traditional London setting. Scripts have sometimes been purchased but more often are written by club members, with popular music selections performed by the many talented singers in the group.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 This year, in a slight departure from tradition, Cornerstone is proud to present an encore presentation of last year鈥檚 original musical, 鈥淐arol鈥. The contemporary Wall Street story, written by Jesse Twietmeyer, with songs composed by Jesse, Dianne and Samantha Twietmeyer, garnered rave reviews from locals and visitors alike. Comments on 2017鈥檚 performance included 鈥淵ou really raised the bar this time鈥, 鈥渢he best play I鈥檝e ever seen鈥 and 鈥渢his should be on Broadway鈥. Many people, cast members included, remarked on the quality and instant familiarity of the songs.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 With all of the creative and emotional investment that we have in this show, Cornerstone begs your indulgence in allowing us to perform it for you again. We promise you will not be disappointed. Although some key cast members from last year鈥檚 show were unable to return for various reasons, we have found amazing people to replace them. Joining leads Lane Easton, Laurie Fornwald, Homer David, Monte and Wendy McNaughton, Ashton Lisitza and Denise Singleton, and most of the excellent chorus from last year, will be Nancy Marsh as Gwen, Jessica Shirley Dormuth as Sandra, Meryle Cruywels as the Ghost of Christmas Present and Roy Rutagines as the Ghost of Christmas Past. They will be, as usual, backed up by the fabulous Cornerstone pit band, led by Michele Amy.

Tickets ($20) are already on sale at Fengche Flowers, 202 Main Street, Carlyle, 306-453-0222.
