Assiniboia Park band, choir practice for Weyburn Music Festival

Practices are ongoing at schools to prep for the Music Festival this week

WEYBURN – Assiniboia Park's Grade 6 band, consisting of ukulele, bongo drums and xylophone, had a rehearsal on Friday, followed by the Grade 1 choir, both led by music teacher Kendra Gonczy, for the Weyburn Rotary Music Festival. The following is how the schedule will for vocal and band-instrumental classes in the coming week:

The vocal sessions will begin on Monday, March 14, and may be held at the T.C. Douglas Centre if a piano tuner can be found in time.

Solo sessions start at 9 a.m., followed by the choir session at the Cugnet Centre at 1:30 p.m., then the solo session will be at 7 p.m.

On Tuesday, March 15, the elementary choir will perform at Assiniboia Park School Gym at 9 a.m., then the elementary choir at Legacy Park School in the Commons area at 1:30 p.m.

A solo vocal session will be held, tentatively at the T.C. Douglas Centre at 7 p.m.

The Grade 7 band sessions will be at the Cugnet Centre on Wednesday, March 16, with the first Grade 7 group from 9:30-10:15 a.m., then the second Gr. 7 group at 10:45-11:30 a.m. group.

The Grade 5 and 6 Ensemble sessions will be at Assiniboia Park School Gym at 1:30 p.m., and the Grade 8 band will be at the Cugnet Centre at 2:45 p.m, followed by the Jazz Band at 3:15 p.m.

The instrumental solo session will be at the T.C. Douglas Centre at 7 p.m.

The final day is Thursday, March 17, with the Grade 9 Band performing at the Cugnet Centre at 9 a.m., and the Concert Band is at 9:30 a.m.
