Wheatland Senior Centre raising funds to help with repairs

Membership dues for the Wheatland Senior Centre are $30 for the year.

The Wheatland will hold their next month-end supper on Friday, Feb 24 at 5:30 p.m., featuring oven-roasted chicken.

WEYBURN - The Wheatland Seniors Centre is raising funds for the repairs and renovations needed with raffle tickets, to be drawn for in March.

The tickets are $2 each, three for $5 or 12 for $20. Contact the centre or come in Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and noon to buy tickets.

The Wheatland will hold their next month-end supper on Friday, Feb 24 at 5:30 p.m., featuring oven-roasted chicken. Phone the centre at 306-842-3503, or drop by to sign the list if you are planning to attend. The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, Feb. 22 before noon.

The results of games held at the Wheatland Sr. Centre from Jan. 30 to Feb. 3 are as follows.

In bridge on Friday, Erskine Sandiford won first, John Whitell placed second and Betty Knibbs was third.

The winners of spades were Terry Bendickson in first, Ray Boucher in second, and Theresa Istace in third.

In hi-lo whist, first place was a tie between Marge Schultz and Faye Johnson, and Ray and Connie Boucher; second was Marie Marcotte and Dorothy Lindskog; third went to Gladys Lokken and Sharon.

In canasta, Elaine Frasz won first, Marlene Szczecinski was second, Christine Herlick came third, Eveline Porte placed fourth, and Phyllis Lindskog was fifth.

In Kaiser, first place was won by Marlene Szczecinski and Anne Gutzke; second went to Basil Holyer and Melba Bent; third was Jean Knibbs and Betty Knibbs; and fourth went to Ruth Boren and Joan Harder.

The winners of Thursday cribbage was Chris Herlick and Phyllis Lindskog in first; Shirley Hubbs and Theresa Istace in second; and Joan Harder and Garth White in third.

In fun cribbage, Sheila Greiner won first; Connie Boucher came second, and Mildred Sandiford placed third.

The winners of military whist were the following teams: in first, Coral Schindel, Elaine Frasz, Emily Martin and Marlene Szczecinski; in second, Janet VanWinkoop, Mildred Sandiford, Basil Holyer and Meta Murray; and third was Shirley Sparks, Willa-Mae Donald, Ray and Connie Boucher, tied with Jean Knibbs, Betty Knibbs, Sheila Greiner and Bernice Jaster.

The results of games at the Wheatland from Jan. 23-27 are as follows.

The winners of Spades were Shirley Sparks in first, Marge Schultz in second, and Ernie Lokken in third.

In hi-low whist, first place was won by Marge Schultz and Mildred Sandiford; second was Marie Marcotte and Dorothy Lindskog; and third was a tie between Marlene Szczecinski and Basil Holyer, and Dave Frayn and Marg Leavens.

The winners of canasta were Ione Schnell in first, Ilene Yates in second, Anne Gutzke in third, Trina Maas in fourth, and Sheila Greiner in fifth.

In Kaiser, the winners were Marge Schultz and Faye Johnson in first, Mildred Sandiford and Coral Schindel in second, Alice Schneider and Lavine Stepp in third, and Ray Boucher and Marg Leavens in fourth.

The winners of Thursday cribbage were Ray and Connie Boucher in first, Rose Levesque and Shirley Sparks in second, and Chris Herlick and Phyllis Lindskog in third.

Bingo is held at the Wheatland every Thursday at 1 p.m. Slider cards are 50 cents each.
