Weyburn Communithon committee starts planning for fundraiser

A new board of directors for the Communithon executive committee was elected at the annual general meeting.

WEYBURN - Member agencies and volunteers gathered for the annual general meeting of the Communithon committee, held at the Weyburn Legion on May 23.

During this meeting, a new board of directors for the executive committee was elected, in addition chairs were chosen for other sub-committees. The Communithon committee has started to plan for their annual fundraiser, set for Friday, Oct. 27.

Communithon is hosted as a one-day fundraiser for the member agencies, who have applied for funding. The Weyburn Communithon committee receives support and advice from United Way Regina.

There are many sub-committees made up of volunteers, and representatives of the member agencies who have applied for funding. The Communithon committee welcomes any new volunteers who want to help organize and plan the annual fundraiser.

This year’s community agencies include: Big Brothers Big Sisters Weyburn, Canadian Mental Health Association Weyburn Branch, Community Low Income Centre, CNIB Foundation, Envision Counselling and Support Centre, Inclusion Weyburn, Â鶹ÊÓƵeast Advocates for Employment, Spinal Cord Injury Saskatchewan, Weyburn Care-A-Van Society, and the Weyburn Youth Centre.

The 42nd annual Communithon will be held at the Weyburn Legion on Friday, Oct. 27 from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
