Among the many different ball games, baseball is considered to be the most unpredictable. No matter what the level of the play, until the game is over, it is hard to know which team will win or how they will win. For instance, last Sunday's game between Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers showed the beauty of baseball. In the second match of the American League Champion Series, how could it possible to imagine that Boston would win the game by tying the game with a grand slam home run in the eighth inning and hitting to stage a come-back win 6 to 5 in the last inning? It was one of the most unbelievable and fantastic baseball plays in my recent memory. One player of Red Sox said that his team never gave up!
A main reason why so many people like to watch baseball is that, theoretically, it is never impossible to turn over the game. There are so many possible tactics and strategies to turn over the game and there is always a chance to come back in every single inning. Unlike other ball games, there is no time limit to play, extra innings keep on going until the game is won.
Of course our life is not a baseball game. We neither have to be a team player nor play the same position to live our entire life. However there is always a chance to make a time to live our life fully and joyfully, as it is possible to make extra innings in a baseball game. And there is always another opportunity to start again and come back in every moment of our life.
Unlike a ball game, our journey is only one time and one life game. There are no regular leagues, wild-cards, consolation games or championship series in our life. However the good news is that there are always two worlds in front us in which we can choose to live, either right or wrong, good or bad, light or dark, happy or sad, positive or negative, hopeful or despairing, and a faithful or a wasteful way of living.
Sometimes it is hard to understand why and how the two worlds always exist in our life. The truth is that often the best place to see the light is in the darkness. The best time to start again is the worst situation, for there is nothing to lose. And the best opportunity to turn around from the wrong way of living is here and now before it is too late. So today is the best time to try to turn over and come back your life if you think that you are in a losing game.
For the existence of two worlds, there are always opportunity, excitement and hope to choose the good, right and light at anytime, in any place and under any circumstance. The opportunity to choose between these two worlds is our advantage even though we are living in only one time and one life. Jesus said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life" (John 8:12).
