When the Saskatchewan Roughriders won the West Division Championship title of the Canadian Football League, they didn't touch the trophy. Instead they said that we have one more week and one more game, the Grey Cup is what we want. It was so good for me to watch the winning game of our home team. Now I realize that why all the people of Saskatchewan have become the fans of the Riders and supported them crazily. The rival team for Grey Cup this Sunday is the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, not the Ontario Tiger-Cats. Unlike other teams, the Riders represent the whole people of the province not only a city. So it will be my destiny to become a fan of the Riders as long as I live in Saskatchewan.
The Riders shouted out one more week and one more game, it is not yet finished! Truly it has not yet finished. There is still one more game left to wrap up the whole CFL season. Until then, the people of Saskatchewan and all team members will be excited and anxious too. in the hope for a Grey Cup. We, as the sensitive fans of the Riders, are hoping and praying for a win in that game.
One more time and one more chance, that is what we all want to have on our life journey. Regardless of who, what and how old they are, everyone wishes to have one more time and one more opportunity to do again, begin or even live again in order to do more and be better, and bigger than what we have been before. There is no more time and no more chances for the Calgary Stampeders to play again for the Grey Cup this year, and sometimes we, people, might also have the same feeling as they do. But our life journey is not like a sports game.
The good news is that unlike a sports game, there is always one more time, one more chance and even one more life on our life's journey. So we are able to do again, and begin again, stand up and move forward again and even live a new life again at anytime, in anyplace and under any circumstance. In the Parable of the Barren Fig Tree, the owner says, "For three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree, and still I find none. Cut it down! Why should it be wasting the soil?" The servant says to him, "Sir, let it alone for one more year, until I dig around it put manure on it. If it bears fruit next year, well and good; but it not, you cut it down" (Luke 13:7-9).
In God's love and mercy there is always new hope, opportunity and a new way of living. Thanks be to God who grants us one more time, one more chance and even one more year to try to do and be. Someone said, "It is never too late to become what you should be!" Indeed our life has not finished yet.
