UC Chimes: It's Christmas!

One of our church ladies said, "Christmas comes once a year!" Yes, that is true! The Christmas season comes only one time per year, not twice or three times like holidays or times of greetings may.

One of our church ladies said, "Christmas comes once a year!" Yes, that is true! The Christmas season comes only one time per year, not twice or three times like holidays or times of greetings may. We can greet people anytime, whenever we choose, and send our best wishes to them. It is always possible to take holidays anytime during the year, if time is available. It isn't necessary for people to take their holidays only during the Christmas season. So it is ridiculous, and does not make sense to call the Christmas season as the Season of Greetings or Holiday Season simply to take the name of Christ out of Christmas.

I don't know when this kind of nonsense and awkward philosophy started or why it seems to have dominated our society, but I do know that this has been deeply rooted in commercialism and secularism, especially in the name of political correctness and each individual's rights and freedoms to choose their own religion. It seems to be fair enough to say that everyone has a right and freedom to choose their own religion, or not to choose any religion. But it is absolutely unfair and can never be justified to take Christ's name out of his own birthday for whatever reason.

It's like to saying to Jesus Christ that your birthday, which has been so popular and famous and has been kept for such a long time by so many people of the world, should no longer be called Christmas. We want to keep celebrating your birthday but we want to change the name to 'Time of Greetings' or 'Holiday Season.' If someone attempted to do this kind of thing for your birthday, how would you feel about it and what would your response be? Definitely it would be ridiculous and obviously it would violate your personal rights and dignity. And the person who tried to do would be considered wrong.

Nevertheless our mass media names, or even promotes, Ramadan, the Muslim Festival. and Hanukah in Judaism without any negativity toward the expression of those religions, so why then do they try so hard to take the name of Christ Jesus out of his own birthday? Truly it is the time to return Christ back to Christmas so that the people of the world may know and realize why Christmas has been so popular and important in human history! Simply let Christmas be the birthday of Christ Jesus and celebrate it! If some don't like it, then please leave Christmas alone to be Christmas! And do enjoy with others in the many greetings and take good holidays without altering any of the original meaning and purpose of Christmas!

No matter what and how people say and try to get rid of the name of Christ on his own birthday, so long as the world keeps December 25 as Christmas day, the Spirit of Christmas will never fade away. The truth is that whether or not they are Christians, the whole people of the world are enjoying and rejoicing during this Christmas season with hope, peace, joy and love, which Christ Jesus has brought to the earth as the goodwill of God. So the Christmas season could include all these of greetings, holidays and celebrations of the holy season on this special time of the birth of the most holy person on earth.
