WEYBURN - The Â鶹ÊÓƵ East Cornerstone Public School Division has released its enrolment figures for the 2021-22 school year.
Â鶹ÊÓƵ East Cornerstone has schools spread throughout the southeast. Shelley Toth, the superintendent of schools and the chief financial officer for the division, said total enrolment was 8,295 students, which is up six from Sept. 30, 2020, when they had 8,289 kids.
Enrolment numbers are considered official on Sept. 30, although they will change during the final nine months of the school year.
The Carlyle Elementary School has seen a jump in the number of students from 211, as of Sept. 30, 2020, to 225 this year. Gordon F. Kells High School sits at 183 students, compared with 202 in 2020.
Arcola School saw a sizeable increase, rising from 215 in 2020 to 244 this school year. Stoughton School had a large bump as well, moving from 143 to 157.

The Carnduff Education Complex has 334 students, the same as the previous year.
Oxbow Prairie Horizons School rose from 370 to 377.
Other schools saw a decrease, although most of the declines were small: Alameda School went from 90 to 88; Carievale School dropped from 109 to 97; Lampman School slide from 178 to 174; Manor School dropped from 59 to 54; Maryfield School went from 96 to 88; Redvers School is down from 296 to 284; and Wawota Parkland School went from 206 to 205.
Â鶹ÊÓƵ East Cornerstone has 289 students registered for home schooling, compared with 282 a year earlier. And the Cyber Stone Virtual School is lower than last year, with 242 students signed up, compared with 393 the previous year.
“In previous years, it was only around 50 students, so it’s considerably higher than pre-COVID years,” said Toth.
