Wouldn't it be wonderful if problems could be solved as easily as they are over a cup of coffee? In conversation with friends while riding our "ferry highway" this week, we used our verbal skills to attract and retain the perfect businesses to our city, build a multi-million dollar roadway to our community, eliminating the need for many of those "ferry highway" journeys, and given the wisdom of our animated conversation we'd soon see the elimination of all tension associated with every political decision. If only everybody saw things the way we do, life would be so much better!

It's something like the story I heard about the Master of Ceremonies for a wedding. After finding the couple who'd been married the longest, he questioned the wife: "What do you consider the most important piece of advice to give the newly weds?"

She immediately responded, "The most important words in a marriage are, 'You're probably right'". Turning to the husband, the MC asked the same question. With all eyes turned on him, he replied: "She's probably right."

There is nothing wrong with differences of opinion; in fact, there's something wrong if permission is not given for people to express their individual views. We call that abuse or dictatorship. The crossing of the line between a difference of opinion and downright meanness has destroyed countless numbers of relationships, businesses, churches, and marriages - to name a few.

I'd love to think that I had the ability to capture the attention of the perfect commercial enterprise to our city. I'd be even more delighted to convince some private developer (with very deep pockets) to build our new highway and hey, if I was mayoroops, don't think I'll tackle that job.

"Out of respect for Christ, be courteously reverent to one another." Ephesians 5:21
