Since moving to this almost idyllic place along the shores of the Pacific Ocean, there鈥檚 always been a nagging thought in the back of my mind: How would we get out of here in an emergency?
Tough times of every type are usually associated with flights to safety. The one I know most about was the migration made by Hubby and his family from eastern Europe. So many didn鈥檛 make it. Although somewhat blurry, childhood memories include hearing about D-Day and the escape of other Europeans during the war.
This week I plan to attend an evacuation planning meeting being held in our neighbourhood. Surrounded by thick forest on one side and ocean or ocean inlets on the other three sides, I would be foolish not to explore our options.
On a far more positive note, though, I can鈥檛 help but think about the number of times God, in His mercy, has provided either a way of escape from a difficult situation or alternately, a valuable lesson and new depths of His presence while I went through that or those tough times. You, too?
鈥淣o test or temptation that comes your聽way聽is beyond the course聽of聽what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; he鈥檒l never let you be pushed past your limit; he鈥檒l always be there to help you come through it.鈥 1 Corinthians 10:13 (The Message)
The Apostle Paul knew what he was talking about when he penned these words. Lonely, imprisoned, beaten and despised by many of his peers and former associates, he found his way of escape by accessing grace and peace in God during difficult times.
I鈥檓 looking forward to knowing how to escape Powell River, if needed, but even more, I rejoice in His 鈥渕eans of escape鈥
