ESTEVAN - The Estevan Fire Rescue Service (EFRS) received a call for service at 1:30 a.m. on Monday.

A vehicle rolled over on the highway and at the time of the call, it wasn鈥檛 known if there were any injuries or entrapments.

Fire crews responded to the location, about 10 kilometres west of Estevan on Highway 39.

鈥淲hen crews arrived on scene, EMS had already made contact with the couple and they were being treated in the back of the ambulance. RCMP established traffic control on the west side, and we established traffic control on the east side of the incident,鈥 said Estevan Fire Chief Dale Feser.

Firefighters ensured that everyone was accounted for. They also flagged off the vehicle, so that people passing by would know that the incident was dealt with.

鈥淚t appears that icy road condition was a contributing factor to this particular incident,鈥 Feser said. 鈥淒uring these freeze-thaw cycles, the roads become extremely icy.鈥

EMS treated the two individuals, who were driving a small passenger vehicle, on scene and then took them to the hospital for further assessment and treatment.

The scene was then turned back over to the RCMP to further investigate the cause of the collision, and fire crews returned to the fire station and returned to service.
