Estevan Police handled a couple of calls during Saturday’s storm

Calls were located at truck bypass, Kensington Avenue
Estevan Police Service
The EPS had a couple of calls related to icy conditions Saturday.

ESTEVAN - Members of the Estevan Police Service handled a couple of calls due to the weather system that brought freezing rain to the Estevan area, and created treacherous driving conditions.

Police were called to Kensington Avenue just north of the Estevan Comprehensive School to a semi-trailer unit that had been southbound and unable to get up the hill.

The unit was blocking northbound traffic and was a hazard. Police tended to traffic at that location for two hours before the semi unit was able to get moved out of the way with the assistance of a tow truck.

EPS assisted RCMP members at a collision on Highway 39 west by the truck bypass.

There were no injuries and the damage was minimal. One of the vehicles was from out of province.

Highways surrounding Estevan and elsewhere in the southeast were closed for several hours.
