Estevan Kinsmen Club set to begin Christmas tree sales

Sales begin on Nov. 22
Estevan Kinsmen Christmas Tree Sale
The Estevan Kinsmen Club will be selling Christmas trees this year, starting on Nov. 22.

ESTEVAN - A popular pre-Christmas tradition in Estevan is about to begin.

The Estevan Kinsmen Club’s Christmas tree lot, located once again at the Estevan Canadian Tire, will open at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 22, and continue until the trees are sold out.

Hours are Mondays-Fridays from 5:30-9 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 3 p.m.

Jessie Berriault with the Kinsmen Club said they have some Fraser trees, which he says is good, because they’re hard to come by these days, and the rest are balsam trees.

“We have your six to eight footers, and then we have a couple of 10-12 footers in there as well,” said Berriault.

He estimates they have between 210 and 220 trees available this year.

The Christmas trees arrived on Saturday and then work began to set up the tree lot. F&L Concrete has supplied the trailer and generator that’s at the site.

Berriault noted that last year the Christmas trees sold out very quickly. This year their supplier was having trouble getting trees, because there has been a shortage across Canada, so they don’t have as many Fraser trees.

“I know people around here really like the Frasers,” Berriault said.

But the balsam trees they have this year will be great.

“Our supplier really goes out and gets us the good ones,” said Berriault.

Proceeds from the Christmas tree sales are directed towards the Kinsmen Club’s work in the Estevan area, such as the Kin playpark in the Hillside subdivision, and their other efforts to improve life in the community.

Also, $10 from every Christmas tree sold on Nov. 27 will be directed towards the Warm Welcome Kitchen.
