CARLYLE - Want to have fun during Carlyle’s 20th Dickens Village Festival?

Dress yourself and the whole family in the Victorian style and descend on Main Street on Dec. 1 and 2.

Wander in and out of holly-decked stores in your Christmas Carol best.  Hit up the High Tea at the Carlyle United Church, the Victorian Market (Carlyle Elementary School), Fezziwig’s Pub (Carlyle Memorial Hall) and the street vendor stalls, and be greeted by all the other folks dressed in similar fashion.

Welcome visitors to town who will be thrilled to see the costumes on display. They’ll probably want to take your picture. And you’ll be so thrilled to see some of the outfits visitors wear that you’ll want to take their picture.

It doesn’t have to cost a fortune, but by all means go all out if you want to. You can put it together with things you already have – a long skirt with cape or shawl, and hat; or long pants, long coat, scarf and hat; or knickerbockers, vest and hat. It’s really all about the hat, so start looking for one now.

Come out in fine Dickens fashion and prepare to have a jolly good time.
