Arcola Health Centre celebrates 90th birthday

听听听听听聽聽聽 Residents of Arcola and the surrounding communities came together on October 4, 2018 for an evening to remember, commemorating the Arcola Health Centre鈥檚 90th birthday.

听听听听听聽聽聽 Approximately 140 people gathered at the Arcola Curling Club for beef on a bun. Guests were treated to significant historical displays including two bricks from the 1928 building, Doctor D.C. MacRae鈥檚 original medical bag as well as the 鈥淥LD ELEVATOR ROPE鈥.

听听听听听聽聽聽 Registered Nurse Tannis Wilson (daughter of Dr. Don and Lorine MacRae) had the honor of emceeing the program and shared personal anecdotes to add a special touch of humor to the evening.

听听听听听聽聽聽 Mayor Keith Erick delivered a heartfelt message on behalf of the surrounding town councils and municipalities, thanking previous and current staff for their dedication and hard work to provide safe, quality care to patients for the past 90 years.

听听听听听聽聽聽 Poetry and music were shared with those in attendance, with Auldene Craig and Laurie Fornwald鈥檚 rendition of 鈥淪omething to Sing About鈥 proving to be a crowd pleaser, evident by the standing ovation at the end of their performance.

听听听听听聽聽聽 Guests were treated to an unexpected highlight, when long time local psychiatrist and son of the late Dr D. C. MacRae (original founder), Dr. Don MacRae took the mic and shared his personal, family connections and some of his favorite memories.

听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听聽聽 Birthday cupcakes, created for the event were shared. Draws for generous door prizes, donated by area residents and businesses, wrapped up a successful evening.
