ESTEVAN — A grass fire northwest of Hitchcock kept Estevan fire crews busy for more than four hours Saturday morning.
Fire Chief Rick Davies said the department was dispatched at about 9:40 a.m. on April 26 to the blaze northwest of Hitchcock along Highway 39. The grass fire had spread quickly due to high winds and moved into an area containing vehicles, lumber and miscellaneous equipment.
Additional crews were called in to help extinguish spot fires in the area. Davies said no injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Earlier in the week, the department responded to three false alarms, but no action was required.
