Two people injured in semi rollover in the southeast

An investigation determined the driver took action to avoid striking wildlife on the highway, resulting in the rollover.

The RCMP and other emergency crews responded to a semi rollover on Sunday.

BIENFAIT - Two people were injured early Sunday when a semi rolled over in southeast Saskatchewan.

According to a Saskatchewan RCMP news release, the Estevan RCMP received a report at 5:20 a.m. Sunday of a the incident happening on Highway 39. The Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure's Highway Hotline reported the incident occurred near the Bienfait Mine Road.

Emergency crews responded to the scene. The driver and a passenger of the semi were taken to hospital with injuries described by the RCMP as non-life-threatening in nature.

The RCMP says an investigation determined the driver took action to avoid wildlife on the highway, resulting in the rollover.

The highway was closed for a few hours while the semi was removed.
