ESTEVAN - The Bienfait man who briefly escaped from lawful custody in Estevan in September had his matters back in Estevan Provincial Court on Monday.
Tyler Mark Wyatt, who is facing several charges, appeared by video. His matters were adjourned to Jan. 6, 2025. He remains in custody.
Wyatt's attorney, Linh Pham, said he and the prosecution are having discussions on some type of resolution. Pham asked for the adjournment into the new year.
Background: Wyatt is facing charges of possession of property obtained by crime and resisting a police officer, related to an incident in Bienfait on Sept. 11, and one count each of escaping lawful custody, resisting a police officer and breaking and entering with intent, stemming from an escape from police custody on Sept. 13. He was at St. Joseph's Hospital at the time of his escape.
Pleasantdale School, Westview School and Sacred Heart School/École Sacré Coeur all went into hold and secure during his brief escape.
Wyatt has other matters before the court stemming from a previous arrest.
In an unrelated matter, Timothy William Irwin had his latest appearance on Dec. 2. He case was adjourned for one week until Dec. 9 so that his attorney has time to review disclosure.
Irwin had applied to have his release conditions amended, but Judge Mitch Miller noted that a judge in Court of King's Bench issued the conditions after Irwin was charged in August, so Miller didn't have the jurisdiction to change them. Irwin would have to apply to King's Bench.
He is charged with one count each of sexual assault, administering a noxious substance, possession for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine [crystal meth]), and unauthorized possession of prohibited weapon (brass knuckles).
The charges against either man have not been proven in court.
