A power outage has hit southeast Saskatchewan on Wednesday.

SOUTHEAST SASKATCHEWAN - A power outage is affecting southeast Saskatchewan communities, including parts of Estevan, on Wednesday afternoon.

The outage occurred just before the noon hour. According to a post on SaskPower's X page, crews were dispatched and the outage affected Estevan, Bienfait, Roche Percee, North Portal and all surrounding rural areas.

A followup message just after 12:30 p.m. said power had been restored.

SaskPower reported electricity was knocked out to approximately 2,900 customers in the region.

According to SaskPower, the outage was from a bird causing a fault on a power line that fed an Estevan substation.

Another outage occurred early in the afternoon, knocking out power to those who live in an area south of Estevan to the U.S. border.
