ESTEVAN — Estevan Gymnastics Club hosted its first Princess and Superhero Ball, a sold-out fundraiser aimed at supporting the club’s operations. The event, held at the Beefeater Plaza on March 10, featured an array of activities for children, including games, crafts and entertainment.

“We have balloons for the kids, tattoos for the kids,” said Rebecca Fedyk, the club’s competitive head coach. “We’re running a cake walk, so when the music plays, they walk around and when the music stops, whoever is closest to the number gets a cake.”

Attendees also had the chance to make bracelets, masks and crowns, participate in a raffle with donated items from local businesses, and enjoy a candy bar and mocktails. Live performances were provided by the Estevan Comprehensive School theatre production team.

Fedyk explained that the idea for the ball stemmed from a desire to involve young gymnasts in the club’s fundraising efforts.

“We always end up doing ticket sale fundraisers for all of our fundraisers,” she said. “One year we did a comedy night, and it was so fun for the parents to get out. With gymnastics club, we had so many young girls and we thought, what could we do to involve them in our fundraisers?”

The event was open to the public and proved to be a popular attraction.

“We did sell out, yes,” Fedyk said.

Funds raised will go toward the club’s general costs, including facility maintenance and coach salaries.

The club is currently at full capacity and preparing for the upcoming competition season.

“The girls are doing awesome this year,” Fedyk said. “We’re just about to get into our competition season. It’s going to be great.”
