ESTEVAN — Community Futures Sunrise is inviting local leaders, entrepreneurs and changemakers to a trio of events across southeast Saskatchewan this May, all led by renowned strategist and speaker in celebration of Economic Development Week.
Fields, principal at Rynic, is known nationally for his dynamic, humour-infused approach to community building and economic development. With more than 30 years of experience working in over 210 communities across Canada, Fields brings practical insights, sharp wit and a bold vision for what it takes to create thriving, resilient communities.
The first two events, titled Follow the Leader, are 50-minute evening presentations followed by Q&A sessions that promise to tackle the real-world complexities of municipal leadership. The sessions will be held on:
- Tuesday, May 13 at 6:30 p.m. at Carlyle Memorial Hall, 111 Main Street, Carlyle;
- Wednesday, May 14 at 6:30 p.m. at Â鶹ÊÓƵeast College, 532 Bourquin Road, Estevan.
These presentations are designed to offer attendees — from elected officials to passionate residents — practical tools they can apply immediately to help shape their communities.
The third event is a more intensive, hands-on session titled Economic Development Plan-Making Fundamentals, scheduled for:
- Thursday, May 15 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Stoughton Drop-In Centre, 311 Main Street, Stoughton
This workshop will guide participants through the foundational elements of creating or refining a community’s economic development strategy, including SWOT analysis, vision development, and action planning. Fields will also share unique insights from decades of experience, offering what organizers describe as his “special sauce” for success.
