ESTEVAN — Estevan Police Service members conducted a traffic stop on Sept. 16, in which an Estevan woman was found to be driving while impaired by alcohol.
The driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving and exceeding 80 mg per cent blood alcohol content while operating a conveyance. She was subsequently released and will make her first appearance in Estevan Provincial Court in November to speak to the charges.
Police also monitored traffic through the construction zone on King Street, resulting in several summary offence tickets being issued to motorists for exceeding the posted speed limit.
"Motorists are reminded to reduce speed and use caution when travelling through work zones to ensure the safety of everyone present," EPS reminds the public.
A report of a man breaching the conditions of his release was received. He was located and warned of his actions.
EPS received a complaint of mail theft from mailboxes in an apartment building in the downtown area. The matter remains under investigation.
Police received a report of ongoing harassment. An initial statement was obtained from the complainant with further investigation and interviews to occur in the near future.
A 911 call was received by EPS, and the sounds of a struggle could be heard in the background. The location of the cellular phone being used was identified through the service provider and it was determined that two youths had placed the call as a prank. The youth and their parents were spoken to by members and cautioned about the penalties for misuse of the 911 system.
Two additional reports of criminal harassment were received during the night shift. In these investigations, both subjects of the complaints were contacted and warned of their actions.
An electric scooter was located in the Pleasantdale area and turned in to police. Anyone missing an e-scooter can attend EPS with a description and/or photos of their scooter to claim it.
Police were also called to an aggressive dog running at large. It was captured and taken to the humane society. The owner was identified and charged under the bylaw for allowing the dog to run at large.
