Estevan Strippers compete at Grand Forks tournament

Estevan went 3-1, with their only loss in a shootout.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - Members of the Estevan Strippers hockey team travelled to Grand Forks, N.D., from March 14-16 for an annual tournament in that city. The Strippers went 3-1 and lost the A final in a shootout.

The Strippers opened the tournament with a 6-3 win over the Jackels. Craig Gusikoski scored twice for Estevan, while Chris Terrett, Tim Arnett, Marshall Holzer and Wade Young also had goals.

Their next game was a 5-4 win in a shootout over a team from Bemidji, Minn. Terrett, Gusikoski, Nick Mayer and Kevin Culy scored in regulation, and then Terrett, Holzer and Gusikoski tallied in the shootout.

Estevan then defeated the Hazelridge Hawks 10-7. Young, Guikoski and Arnett each scored twice, while Holzer, Terrett, Mayer and Culy had the other goals. Jody Waloshin was in goal, and according to information from the Strippers, played well until the offence kicked in.

The Strippers wrapped up the tournament with a 4-3 loss in a shootout against Bemidji. Terrett, Mayer and Holzer had the goals.

The Strippers are now focused on hosting their annual Molson Spring Bust tournament from April 2-6. It's the largest recreation hockey tournament in the province.
