ESTEVAN — The Estevan Fire Rescue Service received seven calls over the week of Jan. 13-19.
On Jan. 18, Estevan firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire in northeast Estevan.
"Upon arrival, it was determined that there was an active fire inside one of the suites. No injuries were reported, and no further information will be released at this time as the investigation is ongoing," said Estevan Deputy Fire Chief Kyle Luc.
The Estevan Police Service and Estevan EMS also attended. No further details were available at this time.
Earlier the same day, crews responded to a carbon monoxide alarm at a residential property. Small amounts of CO were detected. SaskEnergy also attended the scene, and Luc said everybody in the home was safe and had evacuated prior to the fire department's arrival.
Earlier last week on Jan. 14, firefighters were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision at the corner of Kensington Avenue and Rooney Road. Upon duty officer's arrival, it was noted that the vehicles were removed from the road and the assistance of the fire department was not required.
Later that day, crews were dispatched to another two-vehicle accident at the corner of Perkins Street and Fourth Avenue. Once on scene, firefighters conducted traffic control and assisted the other agencies on the scene. No injuries were reported.
The EFRS was alerted to a gas smell in a home in northwest Estevan on Jan. 15. The duty officer responded and quickly determined that the fire department's assistance was not required.
On Jan. 16, crews responded to a residential fire alarm in the eastern part of Estevan. It was quickly determined that the alarm was false and the fire department's assistance was not required.
Crews were called to a commercial fire alarm, also in the eastern part of the city on Jan. 17. Before leaving the station, it was updated that the business was having issues with their alarm panel, and crews were stood down.
