ESTEVAN – Estevan fire crews responded to a vehicle fire in the southeast part of the city last week, among other calls handled by the department.

On April 11 at approximately 1:30 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to a vehicle fire in the southeast area, said Fire Chief Rick Davies.

"Crews quickly extinguished the fire without incident. There were no injuries reported, the damage was contained to the vehicle involved, and the cause of that fire is currently under investigation," Davies said.

Davies added the week of April 7-13 included a mix of commercial fire alarms and a minor vehicle collision. On April 7, just before noon, crews were dispatched to a commercial fire alarm in the north-central area. The alarm had been triggered by contractors working on site, so responding crews stood down.

That same day, just after 12:30 p.m., fire crews were dispatched to a motor vehicle incident. The duty officer determined that a minor two-vehicle collision had taken place and confirmed that firefighters’ assistance was not required. Davies noted that minor vehicle damage and no injuries were reported from the incident.

Another fire alarm later in the week turned out to be a false alert caused by ongoing work. On April 8 at about 3 p.m. firefighters were called to a commercial fire alarm in the northeast area of the city. The alarm was due to work being performed on site, so the crews were stood down.
