ESTEVAN - The Estevan Bruins had goals from seven different players in a 7-3 victory over the Notre Dame Hounds on Monday at Affinity Place.
The Bruins came out flying, with Raine Hodge and Blake Heward scoring in the opening 11 minutes of the game for a 2-0 advantage. Estevan outshot Notre Dame 18-4 and had a number of quality opportunities to score after Heward's marker.
It remained a 2-0 game until midway through the second period when Alexander Papaspyropoulos scored to put the Bruins up by three. A Cade Kennedy goal three minutes later extended the advantage.
Notre Dame's Davis Sato scored to make it a 4-1 lead, but Ilia Chmelevski converted on a pretty passing play less than a minute later to restore the four-goal lead.
The two teams traded goals in the third. Gabriel Filion and Carson Dyck scored for Estevan, and Liam Hunks and Carson Baylis tallied for the Hounds.
Dyck was stopped on a penalty shot late in the third.
Jackson Miller made 16 saves for Estevan, and Spencer Borsos had 35 stops for the Hounds.
The game was played on Family Day, and an announced crowd of 1,528 spectators attended the contest.
Estevan (22-21-2-2) will be back on the ice on Friday when they host the Nipawin Hawks at 7 p.m.
