ESTEVAN — Estevan police arrested a man on April 24 after responding to a report of a visibly intoxicated individual in the central area of the city.
The man, described as grossly intoxicated, resisted arrest and was taken into custody. He was lodged in cells until sober and is facing charges related to resisting arrest.
In a separate incident the same day, police responded to a report of two loose dogs chasing an individual. Officers located the animals and identified the owner. While no injuries were reported, the owner was issued a ticket under a city bylaw for repeatedly allowing the dogs to run at large.
Police also attended an alarm at a local financial institution, which was determined to have been triggered by cleaning staff. Nothing criminal was found to have occurred.
An anonymous tip regarding a person believed to be in possession of a stolen youth bicycle led officers to investigate. It was determined the non-functioning bike had been retrieved from the garbage by the subject, who intended to repair it. No charges were laid.
Officers were dispatched to the skate park after receiving a report of a man scaring youth, but the individual had left before police arrived.
Later that evening, police responded to a noise complaint in the west end, where a large group of youth had gathered around a fire. A warning was initially issued under the city’s noise bylaw, but following a second complaint, officers returned and assisted the homeowner in dispersing the group for the night.
On April 23, police were called to a local hotel where a man reported being attacked by a group. Officers found the man and others involved in a verbal dispute and were able to mediate the situation. All parties were sent on their way.
Police also received reports of a stolen cell phone, cigarettes and vape, and a separate complaint concerning the alleged theft of a cat. Both matters remain under investigation.
Additionally, curfew checks were conducted on three individuals under court-ordered conditions, all of whom were found in compliance.
