ESTEVAN - The City of Estevan has provided an update on snow removal efforts following Wednesday's storm that dumped inches of snow on the community.

"Following last night's snowfall, the City of Estevan’s snow removal crews are actively working to clear the roads and ensure safe travel for all residents," the city said in a news release.

Priority 1 areas are almost cleared, and the focus shifts to Priority 2 and 3 zones, following the city's snow removal priority map.

"Crews are utilizing all available equipment, including plow trucks, graders, loaders, backhoes and bobcats, where necessary. Residential streets are presenting additional challenges, particularly where vehicles are parked along the curb, limiting access for snow removal equipment."

Areas with high pedestrian traffic, such as downtown sidewalks, have been cleared early in the morning to avoid conflicts with foot traffic. The city says it is committed to addressing all streets as efficiently as possible, but residents are encouraged to report any areas that have not been cleared or are dangerous due to snow buildup by calling 306-634-1800.

The city of Estevan asks that residents remain patient as snow removal efforts continue, and to drive safely, especially on residential streets and busy intersections, and to give snow removal staff space to operate.

"The safety of all road users remains a top priority as well as the safety of our snow removal crews, and the city appreciates everyone’s co-operation and understanding during the winter months."
