SOUTHERN SASKATCHEWAN - A blowing snow advisory is now in effect for most of southern Saskatchewan.
The advisory was issued early Friday and covers Regina, Moose Jaw, Estevan, Weyburn, Carlyle, Assiniboia, Moosomin, Swift Current and other areas.
According to the advisory, falling snow, combined with southeast winds up to 40 kilometres per hour, gusting up to 60 km/h, will produce areas of near-zero visibility in blowing snow.
"Conditions will deteriorate midday Friday near the Alberta border. The snow and wind will spread southeast through the rest of the day. Conditions will begin to improve on Friday evening in the west and midday Saturday in eastern areas."
The advisory states travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations. Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero.
