ESTEVAN - There are now four candidates for councillor with Estevan city council and two for Estevan trustee with the Â鶹ÊÓƵ East Cornerstone Public School Division's board.

Coun. Kirsten Walliser, who is wrapping up her first term on Estevan city council, filed her nomination forms for another term as councillor on Tuesday at city hall.

She joins fellow incumbent Coun. Shelly Veroba, former councillor Brian Johnson and first-time candidate Robin Wog on the councillor ballot. Six councillors will be elected.

Coun. Tony Sernick remains the only candidate for mayor thus far.

Also on Tuesday, first-time candidate Craig MacDonald filed his papers to be an Estevan trustee for the Â鶹ÊÓƵ East Cornerstone Public School Division's board. MacDonald joins veteran trustee Kevin Keating in the field. Two trustees from Estevan will be elected to the Cornerstone board.

As of Tuesday at 4 p.m., nobody has filed papers to be an Estevan trustee with the Holy Family Roman Catholic Separate School Division's board.

As for the RM of Estevan, there are still four candidates who have filed papers. Incumbent Reeve Jason LeBlanc has filed his papers for a first full term in that role. Two incumbent councillors, Kevin Daoust (Division 3) and Ramona Dukart (Division 5), have also filed their forms, as has first-time councillor candidate Suzanne McNabb (Division 1).

The RM will hold elections for reeve and councillors in Divisions 1, 3 and 5 this year.

The deadline to file nomination papers for city and RM councils, and for the school boards, is Oct. 9.

The civic election is Nov. 13.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ and the Mercury will continue to have updates on the election candidates.
