WAWOTA — Congratulations to Mel and Vivian Vail, whose 65th wedding anniversary was Oct. 6.

Kathy Olson spent two weeks as a volunteer touring Iceland on a 10th anniversary tour of the island. The volunteers came together to commemorate their shared history.

The tour started in the capital city of Reykjavik on Aug. 30. They enjoyed a lot of sightseeing and attended four ceremonies at four different ports celebrating their common backgrounds.

Some of the sights they saw were churches, museums, graveyards, gardens, hot springs, fjords and a spectacular waterfall. Kathy also met some distant cousins on the Hoelson, Torfason and Nordal sides of the family.
Family and friends gathered at Innisfail, Alta., for the Oct. 4 wedding of Karlie Jackson and Kolby Wanchuk. Congratulations to the happy couple.

Congratulations also to Blaine Lamontagne and Alison Bowey, who were married Oct. 7 in Saskatoon.

A graveside service was held at the Catholic cemetery in Wawota on Oct. 7 for Vern Lamontagne. He passed away on Sept. 7 at the age 80. A luncheon was served at the town hall following the committal.
Cindy Olson, Emma and Morgan Buhr from St. Albert, Alta., joined the Kenton Olsons of Regina, the Jake Lamoureauxs and Micheal and Erica Wyporowich for a Thanksgiving meal at Keith Olson's on Oct. 8.
