SOUTHERN SASKATCHEWAN - An extreme cold warning has been issued for parts of southeast Saskatchewan on Thursday.
Wind chill values of -40 C and colder are expected. The communities of Carlyle, Bienfait, Oxbow and Carnduff are among those affected.
The warning now covers a total of 138 RMs, as well as the cities of Regina, Saskatoon and Prince Albert, as well as the district of Lakeland.
"A cold, arctic air mass has settled in over parts of southern Saskatchewan and southern Manitoba," the advisory states. "Under this cold air mass, overnight lows will drop to -30 and colder. These cold temperatures, combined with northerly winds of 10-15 kilometres per hour, will produce extreme wind chill values of -40 and colder."
Temperatures will begin to moderate in Saskatchewan on Thursday and the extreme cold will end.
