My Favourite Holiday Tradition
My family and I open presents in the morning and at night too. Me and my family go to Regina to see my cousins. The oldest get to open the presents, then the youngest. Then there are lots of Christmas trees in the house. Do you have a Christmas tree in your house? After lunch, we go skating and sledding and sometimes we go at night. Sometimes we get cold. My family gets to go get ice cream with my cousins and grandma and grandpa. After Christmas day, we go to my grandparents’ house and there are more presents there too!

My Favourite Winter Activity is…
My favourite winter activities are always so enjoyable. I really love skating. It is fun to do with friends. I also learned how to rollerblade from skating because they are very similar. Some of my best memories come from skating. I also love sledding. When I was little, I always loved to sled with my sister and Mom. It’s always fun to do fun things with friends and family.

The Best Christmas Ever!
I woke up to see Millie jumping on my bed. “Go wake Mom and Dad, not me,” I snorted. “Christmas, Christmas – come to the tree,” yelled Millie. I kick her out of my room and got dressed. I went down the stairs and saw Millie dancing by the tree. I went to my pile of presents and saw George and Kensi were wide awake. I saw Mom and Dad sitting on the couch watching us open presents. The reason I pick this Christmas is because it was our last Christmas in our old house.

My Favourite Holiday Tradition
Tradition…everyone has one. I have a new one from last year. It’s called white elephant. It goes like this. You pick a number out of a hat. If you get one, you get to open a present that a person brought for the game. If you get two or up, you can either steal or open a new gift. If you get stolen from, you must open a new gift. Then after the game, everyone has another gift from someone.

The Best Christmas Ever!
Can you imagine going to Denver, Colorado for Christmas? I did. In 2019, I went to Denver, Colorado for Christmas. I went to one NHL, NBA and NFL game. I got to open presents at a nice hotel. I went to see a movie in a big mall in Denver. December 31, I flew back to Minot. I stayed in a hotel in Minot. The next day, we drove home. That was my best Christmas ever.

The Best Christmas Ever!
My best Christmas ever is this year’s Christmas. I am going to Mexico with friends and family. We are going to Mexico on New Year’s day. We are staying for a week in a hotel with a big pool by it. We are flying there and it will be my first time flying. That is the best Christmas ever!

My Favourite Holiday Tradition
My favourite holiday tradition is going to my Oma’s house and baking all the treats for the family. My Oma makes all her recipes herself, so they’re extra special. Baking is our time to giggle, make messes but most of all, have fun. Every year we have to make a lot because we have a big family. We never get all them baked in one day, so I usually sleep over. Most of all, that’s my favourite holiday tradition because I love my Oma and every moment I spend with her is my favourite.
Henlee, Age 11/Grade 6 A.P.E.S.
My Favourite Winter Activity is…
What is your favourite winter activity? Mine is either skating or sledding. Every year, my family sets up a rink and my family and friends skate on it. Sometimes, we skate on a dugout as well. For sledding, my Dad hooks up a sled to our side by side and tries to make me fall off! If my Dad is not home, I find a really big hill and sled down. This is my favourite holiday!

My Favourite Christmas Memory
One of my favourite Christmas memories was when I got a hoverboard. I wanted a hoverboard for years. Also one of my favourite memories is all the food. The turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy – yummy!! I also love the Christmas music. I love how my whole family dances to it. Me and my cousins love opening presents on Christmas eve. I also love how me and my cousins get along so well.

My Favourite Christmas Memory
It was a fine year – 2015! It was a week before Christmas and my parents said we are going to my auntie’s place. So we packed our stuff and left. When we got there, everyone was there. My sister, my aunties and uncles – everyone! On Christmas eve every year, we get to open a present and I got a Jet’s blanket. In the morning, I walked upstairs with my uncle and we waited until everyone was awake and we opened the presents and ate breakfast. We ate pancakes and bacon. That was my favourite Christmas ever.

The Best Part of Winter is…
Jolly Christmas music, delicious turkey, spending time with the family, are definitely some of my favourite parts of winter. My Christmas tradition with my family is having supper at my grandma’s on Christmas eve. Our supper usually includes turkey, potatoes and delicious gravy. For dessert we always have cheesecake! After supper we go home and watch a Christmas movie with popcorn and the best blanket ever! On Christmas morning, we open up gifts with the cousins and have nice warm hot chocolate. Then for the rest of the day, we go sledding and skating at White Bear!

My Favourite Holiday Tradition
On Christmas eve, we watch a movie and hang our stockings. I wake up in the morning and open presents. We drink hot chocolate. I play with my dog. Me and my brother play with our new toys. Those are my Christmas traditions.
Cash, Age 11/Grade 6 A.P.E.S.
My Favourite Holiday Tradition
Every Christmas eve, we go to a family member’s house and celebrate. We go online to a Santa tracker app and see where Santa is and when he comes to Weyburn. My Mom, grandma and other people bring food and treats and trays of food. It is a lot of fun. We always alternate where we go. Last year my sisters, my cousin and me played games and made cookies for Santa. It is lots of fun getting ready for the next day.

The Best Part of Winter is…
The best part of winter is when I get to visit my family that I don’t get to see a lot. My mom’s side of the family all meets at my grandma’s house. My Mom’s brother lives in Moose Jaw and he comes down with his wife and son. We all eat in the garage but if it is too cold, we eat inside. On my Dad’s side, when I go out to his house for Christmas, all of my Dad’s family meets at my grandma Polly’s and grandpa Ronie’s house. While all the parents talk, everyone else goes downstairs. There is a dress-up room and there are some really weird costumes. There is an alien costume and my cousin put it on and scared my little sister. There is also a mini bar and me and my cousin Paige always act like it’s ours. So we get pop and candy to give to everyone else. I always have fun seeing my family.
Hayleigh, Age 11/Grade 6 A.P.E.S.
My Favourite Winter Activity is…
Sledding is my favourite winter activity because it’s like a roller coaster without it being a roller coaster. My favourite part about sledding is that I can race my friends down the hill. I also like going very fast because everyone knows that the faster you go the better and more fun it is. At home we have almost 11 sleds and we only bring four of them when we go. When we go, we usually meet up with our friends because it’s more fun. Those are the reasons of why I like sledding the best.

My Favourite Holiday Tradition
I sing Christmas songs with my Mom, Dad and brother. We all go to Lumsden to spend Christmas with my grandparents. We start by chatting and playing card games, then we eat. For supper, we mostly have ham, potatoes and stuffing. My uncle runs downstairs and dresses like Santa. We all sing Christmas songs from oldest to youngest. My uncle than comes to the living room and he gives presents and candy canes to us!

The Best Part of Winter is…
All of my Christmases are awesome. I love Christmas because of so many things like playing on the outdoor rink and drinking hot cocoa. Also I love the advent calendar. I also love getting presents. Like the one year, I got a dog for Christmas. I still have him to this day. His name is Easton. All my presents were cool too but that was one of my favourites. I love Christmas. It is an amazing holiday. That’s the best part of winter.

The Best Part of Winter is…
Playing hockey on the outdoor rink out at the farm. Every weekend I would go to the farm and help my Dad shovel off the snow before we play. Once in a while, my grandma and grandpa would come and we would make a fire beside the ice. We would roast marshmallows and play hockey. When March came, the ice started to melt and the hockey net was still out there. By the time we got out to the farm, the net was halfway in the water and my Mom and Dad had to grab it and pull it out.
