REGINA - The UR Pride Centre has appointed Bridgit O'Brien as their new executive director.
O'Brien, from Nova Scotia, brings a vast amount of experience in community building, education, and advocacy.
"I am honoured to have been chosen by the hiring committee for this role," said O'Brien. "To have been given the opportunity to continue the important advocacy work UR Pride has so long been engaged in is truly humbling, and I hope to do justice to its history. I hope to ensure UR Pride maintains a safe, empowering, and above all joyful atmosphere both as an on-campus space and as a non-profit community organization."
O'Brien aims to revitalize the UR Pride programming and service so the centre is still a place for learning, laughter, and collective care.
The group welcomes all members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community to visit and be involved in their new chapter.
UR Pride Centre fights back against anti-trans and anti-queer policies at every level of government. They aim to continue pushing for equality, justice, and protection of community rights.
