CARRY THE KETTLE NAKODA NATION - Update: March 24, 8:45 a.m.: As a result of the continued investigation by Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes, in conjunction with multiple RCMP investigative support teams and Regina Police Service, a teen from Regina has been arrested and charged with one count, manslaughter in relation to the death of 31-year-old Drew Jack of Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation.
The youth cannot be identified as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act. They will appear in Regina Provincial Court (youth) at 9:30 a.m. March 24.
Original post, March 21, 2:46 p.m.: Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes is investigating a suspicious death on Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation.
On March 21, just before 3 a.m., File Hills First Nations Police Service received a report of a medical emergency on Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation. Further investigation determined the death was suspicious in nature and Saskatchewan RCMP was notified.
Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes is actively investigating the death of an adult male. Saskatchewan RCMP has not arrested or charged anyone at this point in the investigation.
Residents of Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation may notice an increased police presence as this investigation continues. Updates will be provided by RCMP as they become available.
If investigation determines an imminent risk to public safety exists, RCMP say they will notify the public.
