Saskatchewan NDP leader renews call for change at labour convention

SASKATOON, Sask. — Saskatchewan NDP Leader Carla Beck has addressed the province's Federation of Labour convention ahead of Monday's provincial election.

SASKATOON, Sask. — Saskatchewan NDP Leader Carla Beck has addressed the province's Federation of Labour convention ahead of Monday's provincial election.

She says working people have played a critical role in building Saskatchewan and workers are the backbone of the province's communities.

Beck says growth opportunities have been left on the table under Scott Moe's Saskatchewan Party government and too many people are being left behind.

She accused Moe's government of shrinking Saskatchewan's economy, sending people out of the province for work and ignoring concerns of health-care workers.

Beck says if her party forms the next government, it plans to respect and retain health workers.

She says it would also create a "Hire Saskatchewan" policy to provide locals with jobs.
