REGINA - Maria Alviola is one of the first players to win big on a ticket purchased through the Lotto Spot app since the ability to purchase tickets through the app was rolled out in 2022.
She used the app to purchase her ticket for the Nov. 15 Lotto Max draw and discovered she would be taking home a $100,000 prize from the Extra she added to her ticket a couple of days later when she went back to check the app.
However, as it was the first time she’d won a prize of that amount, Alviola didn’t want to get her hopes up, so called the lottery office to confirm what she was seeing.
“I wasn’t sure if it was legitimate or not,” she said with a laugh, while claiming her prize.
The Regina winner said she intends to invest some of her windfall.
"I'm going to try and find a way to make the money work for me," she said.
Alviola won by matching the last six digits of the winning EXTRA number for the Nov. 15 LOTTO MAX draw - 2608994.
