REGINA - Natural gas has been identified as linked to the potential cause of the explosion at a four-unit residence in Regina on Sunday morning.
According to Regina Fire and Protective Services, fire investigators had located a gas line within the property at Retallack Street and 6th Ave. that had been compromised, and have determined the explosion was related to natural gas. An ignition source could not be located, due to the extent of the damage.
The investigation has been turned over to Regina Police Service for follow up, according to the fire department.
The fire department reports its search of the property is complete and that the property is all clear and no victims were located.
The site remains fenced, and the fire department reports the neighbouring apartment complex which suffered significant structural damage will be demolished.
It was reported earlier that two individuals have been displaced who were living in the neighbouring apartment complex. The house that had exploded was a Regina Housing Authority property and was vacant at the time of the incident.
