REGINA — Pierre Poilievre swept all 14 of Saskatchewan’s federal ridings en route to winning the national Conservative leadership Saturday.
Poilievre won the leadership by taking 68.15 of the points calculated from the 338 ridings where party members voted. In terms of ridings won, Poilievre finished first in 330 of 338 ridings across Canada.
In Saskatchewan, Poilievre won by staggering margins in the 14 ridings, with Leslyn Lewis a distant second. Jean Charest was a distant third, ahead of Roman Baber and Scott Aitchison.
Even in ridings like Battlefords-Lloydminster and Yorkton-Melville, where the area MPs had endorsed Lewis, Poilievre scored a landslide, topping 80 per cent of the vote in both electoral districts. Poilievre’s best showing in the province was in the energy-rich Souris-Moose Mountain riding in the province’s southeast, where he topped 87 per cent.
